With a Barista-Essentials subscription, you no longer have to remember when you installed your espresso machine water filter or when it needs replacing. When it’s time for a new one, we’ll let you know and send it straight to your door.

What are the benefits of a water filter subscription?

A subscription helps you remember when to replace your water filter. This is important because limescale affects both the taste of your coffee and the inside of your machine.

In addition, an old water filter can become a breeding ground for bacteria. So replace your filter on time to keep your machine clean and limescale-free.

How often should I replace my water filter?

How often you should replace your water filter depends on several factors, such as water hardness and how much coffee you make.

Go through the questions below to find out how long your filter will last:

1. How often do you use your machine?

  • 0–2 times per day = 1 point
  • 3–5 times per day = 2 points
  • 6+ times per day = 3 points

2. How hard is your water?

  • Soft or medium water = 0 points
  • Hard water = 1 point

3. Do you also use extra water for americano or tea?

  • No = 0 points
  • Yes = 1 point

Result

  • 1 point → replace after 3 months
  • 2–3 points → replace after 2 months
  • 4–5 points → replace after 1 month

Which water filter do I need?

We offer 4 types of water filters. See below which machines they are suitable for:

Waterfilter with spout: For espresso machines with a hose in the water tank, such as ECM, Bezzera, Rocket, and Expobar.

Sage water filter: Suitable for machines from Sage, Solis, and Breville.

De’Longhi water filter: Designed for almost all De’Longhi machines, including fully automatic ones. Not compatible with the Icona Vintage.

Water filter bag: Universal, suitable for any espresso machine with a water reservoir.

How do I change my subscription frequency?

Log in to your customer portal via the profile icon in the top right

Click the 3 dots to adjust your subscription

Select your preferred frequency

How do I pause my subscription?

Sometimes you’re away for a while or use your machine less. You can easily pause your subscription for a month (or longer) via your Barista-Essentials profile.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Not feeling the subscription anymore? You can always cancel it in your customer account.
